Shy west of the old Porto Giunco watchtower, you’ll discover Cala Porto Giunco. It’s a small dazzling cove that neighbors the far larger beaches of Spiaggia di Capo Carbonara and Spiaggia di Porto Giunco. The beach has a length of 100 meters and faces north, with absolutely stunning views of the beach of Porto Giunco and the pond behind it, and Spiaggia Timi Ama. On the other side, on the hilltop 50 meters above sea level, you’ll see the ancient sixteenth-century Spanish watchtower Torre di Porto Giunco. Cala Porto Giunco is a beautiful spot for snorkeling; you’ll likely spot white bream, sea bream, and murmurs. The sea is usually calm as this inlet is protected from most wind directions. Families with children will also like this little Caribbean-style cove; the waterbed has a gentle slope and gets deeper only after several meters. Although there’s a beach bar on the southern tip of Spiaggia di Porto Giunco, be aware that this cove is unsupervised and has no services. Bring some cold drinks, snacks, and an umbrella if you can. It’s one of the most stunning coves in the area of Villasimius; make sure you go early during high season.

How To Get To Cala Porto Giunco
You cannot reach Cala Porto Giunco by car. On foot, wearing proper footwear (no slippers or flip flops), you can reach it from the large nearby beach of Porto Giunco on the north side, but do so with care as this will involve climbing a few rocks. Some protective clothing may be a good idea as well. In our view, you’d be better off approaching the cove from Spiaggia di Capo Carbonara and hiking up to the watchtower. Although the footpath can be narrow sometimes, it should be doable with children. The hike will take around half an hour. From the top, admire the breathtaking vistas of Villasimius and the Notteri pond. Take a few panoramic pictures before heading to Cala Porto Giunco. You might spot a dolphin or two swimming in the sea! Bring water.
