Summer on the rocks at Spiaggia del Riso. In the background, the low hills near Spiaggia Cuccureddus. Tucked between the Villasimius Marina and Spiaggia di Campulongu, you’ll find a small beach named Spiaggia del Riso. It’s one of the smaller beaches in the area, but definitely worth paying a visit for a few hours when it’s not too busy (Saturdays, mostly.) As its name suggests – and you probably guessed it – the sands of this little beach are white as rice, with typical Sardinian polished rocks and boulders sprinkled across the beach. Spiaggia del Riso faces northwest, with very nice views of the marina and the area surrounding Spiaggia di Campulongu. The beach is backed by a quiet residential area where several holiday villas can be found. Behind the small village, there’s Stagno di Notteri, a small but well-preserved pond that stretches to the east side of Capo Carbonara to give access to Spiaggia di Porto Giunco. Spiaggia del Riso is suitable for some casual summer swimming. You won’t be disturbed by any large waves or currents. Alternatively, take a refreshing dip while you’re on your way to explore the more immense beaches in this pocket of southeast Sardinia. If you’re bringing your snorkeling set, note that you will spot a few rocks on the opposite side of the marina, which probably attracts various fish species. Note that you won’t find any facilities on Spiaggia del Riso. For lunch, there are several restaurants nearby at a walkable distance. The parking area is on the north side of the beach, near the seaside campsite.
Stay until sunset if you can!
