Spiaggia di Santo Stefano is tucked between the southern tip of Capo Carbonara and the Marina of Villasimius, just about 1 kilometer south of Spiaggia del Riso. It’s a decently sized beach with a length of 250 meters. Shaped like a half moon, the beach faces west, with splendid views of Scoglio San Stefano, a tiny island 500 meters off the coast.
Spiaggia di Stefano offers the familiar ingredients of a south Sardinian beach: crystal clear waters, stretches of grainy sand, with parts of the beach dotted with granite rocks. Some light snorkeling certainly comes to mind; the sea is lovely here, and you’ll likely spot plenty of fish, even close to the shore. Don’t be surprised to see starfish, octopus, mussels, and sea urchins. About twenty meters from the beach, the seabed becomes a bit rockier, so you may want to bring a pair of swimming shoes.
During the high season in July and August, it’s not a bad idea to come here early to reserve a good spot. Bring an umbrella for some shade. Also, make sure you stock up on supplies if you’re planning to spend more than a few hours (drinks, snacks), as Spiaggia di Santo Stefano offers no services. You’ll find a mini market just two kilometers away. Santo Stefano is suitable for families with children and is a must-see beach if you’re staying near Villasimius.
Sunsets are known to be gorgeous here!
